A nod to the quote made by Descartes in 1637, which still dominates much of western ideology.
The statement separating the mind from the body and equating our ‘true’ identity to what we are thinking over how we are being. The Enlightenment initiated our love affair with logic and reason, reshaping humanities relationship with mysticism, God and the soul. We need both. As Caroline Myss says in her book A Time for Grace, “From a Renaissance of the mind we are now coming full circle to a mystical Renaissance”.

Read the poem I think by Emily J Gibson
I think
Therefore
I am
A man
Who can
And did
Obscure
The path
On how
To live
Split off
The mind
Leaving
Behind
The breath
Entwined
Enshrined
Inside
The sacred
Blood red
Heart of
Matter
